Know About Waxing

Step1. Know that waxing consists of applying a warm melted wax, oil and rosin mixture over unwanted hairs. The wax is applied with a spatula over your unwanted hairs, and a strip of muslin is pressed on top of the melted wax and pulled off.
Step2. Understand that waxing must be done every six weeks.
Step3. Be sure that the unwanted hairs have grown ¼ to ½ inch above the skin, otherwise the hair is not long enough to become embedded in the wax.
Step4. Expect to have some redness and soreness at the waxing site for 2 hours.
Step5. Realize that waxing can be painful, and the application of over-the-counter topical steroids shortly before or after the procedure may help the sting and irritation.

Beat The Dry Skin

The winter months, of course, pose unique challenges and can create serious dry skin problems. Constantly switching between unnaturally dry indoor air, and the harsh cold and wind outdoors removes moisture from the skin. While creams and lotions replace some of that moisture, it is far better to take steps to prevent those losses in the first place.

Step1. Realize that the skin is a living organ, the body’s largest, not just a covering like the upholstery on your couch. General health rules regarding nutrition, proper rest and exercise all contribute to the overall health of the skin. But, there are some special that will help you avoid dry skin and stay healthy. Here are a few that are especially important during the colder months. First, keep well hydrated. This is probably easier to remember during summer, but is just as important in winter. In addition to eggnog and champagne, drink at least eight glasses of water a day. This keeps skin moisturized and flushes toxins out of your body. Next, use sun block. Although skin is less exposed in winter, ultraviolet rays can be particularly intense on clear winter days. Even when cloudy, UV rays still penetrate. If you go skiing, UV exposure is even greater. Bottom line; use a good sunscreen that blocks both types of ultraviolet radiation - UVA and UVB.
Step2. Keep out the chemicals. Your skin wasn’t designed to deal with dish soap, bleach, hair coloring and thousands of other everyday chemicals that can cause dry skin. Many common cleaners and solvents specify the wearing of gloves. Always follow such advice. Even products that don’t require gloves can still suck the oils and moisture out of the skin, leaving it dry, cracked and irritated. This even applies to antibacterial soap.
Step3. Use gentle cleansers on the face. The face is more delicate than other parts of the body and deserves special treatment.

Step4. Get rid of dead skin. Most “dry skin” is actually skin that is ready to fall off. Exfoliation, therefore, should be part of your regular routine. Use a washcloth when washing your face and then work up to something like a loofa if you can. Exfoliation helps moisturizers and other skin care products do a better job. By exfoliating before you apply moisturizer, it isn’t blocked by dead cells.

Cut Your hair As Your Personality

Step1. Take into consideration your face shape. Almost anything goes with an oval face, round faces need added height with layers or bangs and narrow faces do well with shorter cuts and bobs.
Step2. Think about what your daily prep time is, and get a cut that fits your personality and time restraints. Layers are wonderful for those who have the time to curl and primp in the morning, but something that looks good pulled back may work for those who are rushing out of the house at the last minute.
Step3. Use your lifestyle to gauge your next hair cut. For athletes, a hair cut short, and close to the head, may be your best bet. If you have a more leisurely lifestyle, you can go for longer locks.
Step4. Come up with a few words that describe you. If you feel that you are daring and exotic, get an exotic hair cut that fits your personality. A sexy fringe or a bold bob cut goes well with daring individuals. For safer individuls, keeping hair all one length and straight may be your best bet.
Step5. Take your hair's texture into consideration. Wavy or curly hair can be kept long and flowy with layers cut in to minimize body. For someone with straight hair, a bob is an easy haircut that goes with your hair's personality.

How To Apply Red Lipstick

With a variety of shades and styles perfect for any skin tone, red lipstick is a great way to enhance your everyday makeup. In fact, it's a sure-fire way to turn heads and get noticed. Perfect red lips require a little expertise, however. Follow these easy steps to apply red lipstick.

Step1. Apply a light layer of liquid foundation to your lips and allow it to dry.
Step2. Dust your lips with a translucent powder to set the foundation. The foundation and powder create a smooth surface for applying the lipstick and help keep it from fading.
Step3. Line your lips with a lip liner that best matches your chosen shade of red. Lip liner keeps the lipstick from bleeding. Smudge the liner around the edges for a natural look.
Step4. Use a professional-grade lip brush to apply the red lipstick starting at the center of you lips and moving out. A little red goes a long way. Using a brush instead of the stick delivers the perfect amount of color.
Step5. Blot the first layer of lipstick lightly with a tissue.
Step6. Apply a second layer of red lipstick again beginning in the center and working out.

Avoid Foundation Flaws

many women make the very common mistake of applying or abusing the use of foundation. Granted, it is quite simple to misuse foundation, henceforth creating a very fake “clown- like” look. Few women desire a falsified look. As women, we universally yearn for that natural look that makes people question whether or not we even wear any make-up at all. Here are a few foundation flaws to avoid in order to create a more natural look from the start.

Step1. Remember these words of wisdom- Less is Best! It is true ladies, less is always best when it comes down to make-up. Only a light application is needed for most women. One coat of foundation will suffice. If you match your complexion perfectly, or as close to perfect as possible, you will be pleased with one light coat. Double coating foundation works against your look as it appears cakey and thick.
Step2. Blend it in. Have you ever been afraid to get too close to someone because you just know that they’re foundation will rub off on you?? The way to avoid this mishap is to blend in your foundation instead of sitting it on top of your skin. Foundation looks best when it is blended in with your skin lightly. Your skin should still be visible underneath the foundation. Use a sponge foundation applicator to blend in the make-up so that you create an even undetectable make-up appearance. Do not add more foundation to your sponge. Work with what you have on your sponge, which will create a smoother look. Once you start putting more foundation onto your sponge, the more you will find yourself packing it on. After blending, your skin should look radiant and clean, not as if your face needs a good cleaning.
Step3. Don’t neglect the jaw line and neck! Okay, let’s be honest, you know you’ve seen the two-toned ladies or now that you think about it, you may be guilty of being two toned yourself! These are the ladies whose faces are perfectly packed with foundation of one tone, and the neck is totally forgotten about with a tone of it’s own. So, after blending your face, apply foundation to your neck and blend well. Again, one coat will do for the neck. Apply the same amount to your neckline and jaw line so that your complexion does not appear uneven. Other often neglected areas to give special attention to are the hairlines, earlobes, and around the eyes.
Step4. Follow up with a light powder. This will polish up your look. If you use a powder, apply it with a kabuki brush. Mineral powders or translucent powders work well on top of foundations to take away the oily look and allow your foundation to stay in place.
Step5. Check your face in a natural light source. Sometimes the lighting in your bathroom can be deceiving. Once you’ve checked it out, go and fix any areas that need attention. This always does the trick.
Step6. Request help from a professional. Many women don’t have the skills that they need to find that perfect color for their complexion. If you’re not one of the lucky ones, just take a trip to the department store to a Lancome or Clinique counter or any brand of your choice and let one of the skilled ladies do the job for you. They are experts, and chances are you won’t be sorry for requesting help. Let them do a make over for you and even show you how to apply it.
